Restore-A-Finish
Feed-N-Wax

Three Step Wood Care Tutorial

  1. Wash the piece with a mild solution of ammonia and water and wipe dry. This removes years of dirt, smoke and furniture polish. Let piece dry thoroughly.
  2. Apply Restor-A-Finish. Choose the color that best matches the finish of your wood. Apply with a small pad of cloth, or (for severe scratches and white rings) apply with super fine (0000) steel wool. When using steel wool, always rub with the wood grain. Finishes vary in hardness, so test pressure to be used with steel wool on an inconspicuous spot. Cover a small area at a time and immediately wipe dry.
  3.  Here in Colorado where the climate is very dry, wood tends to dry out quickly too. About a week after treating the piece with Restor-A-Finish, the wood can be further nourished with a coat of Feed-N-Wax.  Saturate a small pad of cloth with Feed-N-Wax and wipe evenly onto the wood surface. Let stand at least 20 minutes and wipe off excess. Polish out with a clean soft cloth and buff to a shine.

Restore-A-Finish helps revive faded wood finishes, minor crazed or checked wood finishes, light scratches & abrasions. Restore-A-Finish penetrates faded lacquer, shellac, and varnish finishes to bring back the original color and luster. It restores the depth of grain, going much deeper than temporary “scratch cover” products.

Feed-N-Wax Wood Polish & Conditioner is ideal for enhancing the natural depth of grain while providing added protection and luster to furniture, antiques, and cabinets. Feed-N-Wax helps introduce conditioning oils that “feed” the wood while providing a protective coating of beeswax and carnauba wax. Feed-N-Wax can be used on finished or unfinished wood to help preserve and keep the wood from drying out, fading, or even cracking. Feed-N-Wax should be used whenever the piece looks faded or dry, usually every 3 to 6 months.

We carry both Restore-A-Finish and Feed-N-Wax.
